Hideaway at Royalton Negril, An Autograph Collection ★★★★★

Staff was friendly, helpful, not pushy and aggressive like some other places we been. It was clean, food was good, we enjoyed most things we tried, drinks weak as always in all inclusive, views were amazing. All in all we enjoyed our stay

Wish the tub in room was a little bigger, we could barely fit together

DWIGHT, PETER, and KEISHA were Wonderful host at the adult pool.

The resort need to be renovated. Some of the bedroom furniture have rotten spots on it water, which need to be replaced. Make certain when housekeeping clean room to leave clean wash clothes and bath towels if remove from room. Definitely don’t close the ADULT POOL on a Saturday. That is one of the more popular days for tourists! Which was a waste of money for a swim out room for that day!

the staff were absolutely great so friendly and helpful. the hideaway pool and swim up bar were my fave locations!

The restaurants (not the buffet) lacked decent vegan options.

After exchanging room because of closeness to other family members, the bathroom tile was lose and I only had a shower, not a tub.

The setting was exceptional. The balance of nature paired with modern amenities created the ideal vacation getaway that I wanted. Housekeeping and room service were on point. The food was great too, not to mention the drink options at the bar.

There was a change in the room selected on Booking to what they had reserved, I had specified 2 beds however upon check in, the room reserved only had one. This caused my friend and I extra funds to secure rather than returning to Montego Bay.

Very friendly staff and well kept facilities

Internet didn't work well in some areas and the food was ok but not exceptional.

Location was great, by the hill at the grand lido, but the service was very poor all the staff would stand at the bar shouting in there own language , after serving no one came on check if you're ok . The server's aren't professional I didn't go back there.

I like my room attendant and my waitress at the Caribbean cuisine Kadian was excellent .

This booking was made before the modified curfew which upon learning several attempts were made for a one day extension both online and placing phone calls routed to Mexico, no local number was available . Came to Royalton checked in explained my situation and it seems I couldn’t be accommodated, as a result I ended up with another booking for the original extension I had been trying to obtain

The late night restaurant and the disco was good Location is great also, the food was excellent

The diamond club was a bit lonely and boring I guess because of the COVID 19 protocols

The room and conveniences therein were excellent!!

They were short-staffed at times, not sure how much of this can be attributed to the mandatory lock-down nationwide for the Easter Holiday period as a measure to combat the spread of COVID-19. Our refrigerator was not restocked daily.

Facilities and Location

Due to Covid, I think some activities and restaurants were closed. Some of the specialty restaurants were not as good as expected for a 5 start all inclusive resort.

The rooms didn’t smell fresh, mildew smell

I love the resort and had an awesome time overall and definitely would return. The staff was amazing over all. It was a bit of a distance to walk around the resort.

I did not like being told upon arrival that a $200 hold would charged on my card. No where on booking did it mention that there would be additional charges or exorbitant hold amounts. These charges are not something you spring upon people upon arrival. I did not like that our mini bar did not get restocked for 2 days of our stay after asking repeatedly. I especially did not like when I was checking out and was told that I would have to wait for the $200 hold to be reversed unto me and that I had to pay a whopping $363 in charges for the spa after being told at check in that the hold would be used for any additional charges. So I was prepared to pay $163 in overages and instead had to repay and wait until Jesus come for my $200 to come back to my bank. My vacation was awesome but this last part makes me not want to come back.

The layout having to walk

The service staff were great, the beach and bay were lovely, the bars were good and all inclusive gave a decent amount of options for food and drink. Bar staff went above and beyond where they could. Butlers were attentive and willing to go the extra mile. The outdoor environments were immaculate and they'd done a brilliant job of keeping the landscaping and outdoor areas looking beautiful. The cafe was amazing, open early morning and serving blue mountain coffee. The baristas knew what they were doing and the coffee really tasted great whichever way we ordered it. Additionally, we did the boat tour our to Rick's cafe and the island where you're fed lobster and that was fantastic, fully recommend to anyone staying in the area.

(1) The entire "Hideaway" adults only resort was closed due to covid so we had paid a premium for a room we couldn't have. Whilst they gave us (and everyone else) one day in a cabana for free to make up for the fact that Hideaway was closed, it should never have been advertised on booking.com in the first place. It also meant that during the day our room was blasted with the sound of the poolside trivia games which really is not the relaxing environment all the Hideaway materials advertise. (2) They gave us a downgraded room type (second floor with balcony), without saying anything. We had to wait until 5pm the next day to move into the room we had actually paid for (penthouse with terrace). After the vacation, we had to argue with the Royalton customer service team just to get a refund of the difference between the room values for that first night - no other compensation was offered for the situation. We would have thought this was a mistake but several other people we spoke to experienced the same thing. Other minor issues- we booked the 5 course chefs table tasting session (>$100 pp with wine) and the food was acceptable but some of the food items were exactly the same as items we'd eaten in the all inclusive a la carte restaurants. In our building there were a couple of occasions where mess such as food items were left on the stairwell for about 24 hours. The pool on our room's terrace wasn't working and it took a couple of days for our butlers to get the guy round to fix it.
